Want to Better Understand Modifications

I’ve always tried to tinker and put different pups or locking stop tail pieces but always wound up back to stock. The only two I can think of that I’ve kept were switching from the normal vintage tunners to the new locking ones on my mccarty and switching the pups in it to seth lovers, although I think I’m going to end up back with the Mccarty pups in it.

:pI also think some people are of the mindset to not mod. But majority of them skip the SE line entirely knowing compromises are made that they can’t jive with.

I’ve had neck dive issues on 3 of my core guitars -EG lll, 92 custom 24, and USA Mira. That meant wood tuners buttons, which got the balance where I like it. Any other core mods are repairs when something goes wrong. My S2’s have had a Mann trem on one (too bright), and a brass trem block on another. The SE’s? If the neck is good, I change everything I don’t like. All of the SE’s have locking tuners. I basically live with a guitar, and only change what my ears tell me to.
