Always been put off buying a PRS because of the glossy finish to the back of the neck's. A few years ago it seemed like there were a lot of guitars built with solid rosewood neck's but now, when I'm considering getting a PRS more than ever, there barely seems to be any of these models anymore and getting a guitar in a colour/spec I want with a rosewood neck seems difficult. Last time I played a PRS was in around 2010, have the lacers become less 'sticky' over the last 4 years?

I have a 2009 and 2013 model and don't find the finishes on either to be overly "sticky" to play - certainly not like some nitro finishes I've tried.

In terms of un-lacquered (or less lacquered), the Swamp Ash Special I had previously had a satin finish maple neck but you'd need to be looking second hand for one of those as I think they've been discontinued.

Also, the new Zach Myers SE single cut has a satin finish neck as well, I believe. But obviously it depends on what you're looking for!

You could special order and get it with an Artist Package. That way you get the exact color you want with the neck you're looking for. I absolutely love the feel of the Rosewood neck on my new P24 Trem and I'm so glad I went with that option!

P24 trem with rosewood neck. Gah....I think I have a new dream guitar...with a wide thin neck, oh yeah! I love my spruce HB, but the wide fat neck is not quite as lovely as the wide thin on my CU24.

Oh yeah, original topic: there are a few SEs offered with satin necks, and the AP method can certainly get you a rosewood neck still, AFAIK. So look around, and maybe find one used.

The maple necks are not gloss, they are infused with a paint or sealer of some kind that makes them feel like they're unfinished. You might like that as well.

My Artist Package Custom 22 has a maple neck with that sealer Les mentioned. It feels absolutely nekkid if you know what I mean.

The NF3, DC3, Brent Mason are great options to choose from. Also I do believe you can order an Non-Glossy maple neck version of several models through the Artist Package Program. The Rosewood necks are great too.
