I am missing the correct volume pot on my 1986 Custom.
I bought the guitar second hand but it still bothers me that the shaft is too long on the volume , so the knob sits too far of the body.
I asked Sean of PRS if the current one (ACC-4111) is a good replacement.
I got this answer :
"Hi Stefan,

Thanks for contacting PRS Guitars.
We did use 500k pots on our Customs going back to 1986. I would recommend ACC- 4111 as a replacement pot.

Thanks,
Sean"

I bought a new one but it is again too long and a little too wide.
I checked with my 1990 PRS and the early ones are different (shorter and a tiny bit thinner).
Where could I buy one? Any of you guys have an idea or maybe had the same problem replacing one?

You can just add another washer to the new pot to make the knob sit lower. The current PRS pots are some of the best available.

I don't know much about the older style pots, but they may be out of production and thus nearly impossible to find.

FYI, it may not be the shaft of the pot that's too long. As I recall, early PRS knobs had a deeper hole, so the knob would sit lower on the pot. Are you sure you have original PRS knobs?
