Volume pot issues

Last year the volume pot on my beloved cu24 started acting up. It would intermittently cause some kind of tonal dropout, as though the tone knob had been rolled down. I found that pressing the knob down would usually correct the problem for a while.

I ordered a replacement volume pot from the prs accessory shop and installed it, and it was working fine until I noticed the exact same problem happening two days ago. Again, if I press the knob in, it fixes the problem temporarily.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with their volume pots? Is there a root cause that I might be missing?

That could be it. To my ears it just sounds like I lose high end edge and a bit of volume.

Sorry...I was giggling thinking...maybe it's a push/pull lol.
KIDDING.
sheesh

Is a weird issue that's for sure. It points to the pot not being the problem (unless you inadvertently put the old one back in) and something physical going on in the electronics cavity. You get stuff all movement when you push on a pot so it's hard to imagine that there's something going on there.

I would be popping the cover and wiggling things to see if you can replicate the problem. Is there a treble bleed circuit? Are there any dry solder joints? Is it some other component that is getting moved when you push on the pot? Good luck!
