Hello I have today received delivery my new PRS SE 24-08 Standard (Tobacco Sunburst. It plays and sounds just as great as I hoped it would. Can anyone tell me if I will mess up the action if I remove a couple of the vibrato springs as it feels quite heavy to press down towards the body? Would doing this mean I would need to adjust anything else, please? Thank you, Neville

Congrats On Your New Guitar!

It Is Possible You May Have To Make Some Adjustments But Impossible To Say For Sure. Instead Of Removing Springs I Would Really Use And Abuse The Trem And Get It Worked In Really Well And See How That Feels After A Bit Of Time. You May Be Very Surprised How Much It Helps And Can Change The Feel. Good Luck!

Yes, if you remove a spring (or two) you will have to tighten the spring claw in the spring cavity to move it further in and re-balance the trem.

Fulcrum trems balance the string tension with the spring tension in the back of the guitar. If you want a softer feel, you can remove springs, but you need to compensate for that by cranking the springs a little tighter.

But once your bridge is back to its neutral position (the bottom of the bridge should be level with the top of the guitar), your action should be exactly as it was before.
