Vela with wraparound bridge

Picked up a vela today 2014 model with wraparound bridge. Much prefer the wraparound bridge because it adjusts to the height I prefer much easier than the two saddle plate design. I haven’t seen one of these before and am curious why so few were made this way and what the history on it is?

It was a limited run commissioned by a dealer, IIRC.

Nice score. Dave's seems to have a knack for getting prototypes and oddities. Apparently PRS tested the Vela with the wraparound, but in the end chose to go with the barrel bridge. Never ones to waste guitars, they sell 'em all.

I remember Dave's also having some prototype S2 Standards without pickguards.

Shortly after the Vela was released, I started crying on here for a satin finish Vela...
Some time later, 'The Guitar Store' in Seattle got a hold of a small handfull of prototype satin finish S2's, including a couple of Vela's... about a year before any production models w/ satin finish were available.
A week later, I had my first Vela...

Replaced the tuner buttons and the bridge pup to my liking...
