I love my Vela, but not crazy about the bridge pickup. I came across a 58/15 LT bridge from a 594. Would that p/u swap in easily with the Vela being a push pull?

Easy swap. Go for it! But.. have you tried adjusting pickup height yet? That makes a huge difference. The stock pickup is quite good and unique.

But I get swapping for a certain sound that works for your ears. I'm a pickup swapping junkie.

Yeah, I have. Its just that I find myself not really staying on the bridge much on that guitar. So that’s what gave me the idea.

I definitely don’t ever use the split tone. It just doesn’t sound different enough, I guess because of the brightness of the pickup.

Hmm.. I get a difference between split and full HB. I also really like the middle position with both bridge and neck. To me the neck is a single coil on roids and goes well with the lively bridge. I'll admit I spend more time on neck or middle than bridge, but I do use the bridge regularly, in split and full.

I really like the LT pickups. I like the neck better than the bridge with them, too. If I was putting a bridge pickup in, the LT wouldn't be my first choice, but still a good choice. I personally prefer the 5708 or 5909 in the bridge. All good choices, just depends on what you're after..

Honestly, I'm not that crazy about it either,,,for my purposes, anyway. Doesn't give me the sustain I'm after. The fixed polepieces at extended heights is reminiscent of some of the old non-Broadcaster Tele PUs, and makes me wonder how much it might contribute to things.

Maybe put a SD of some stripe in it. I've considered swapping it, or, just sell it and try for another PRS I might me more inclined to. Time will tell.

The seller just told me the p/u only has two wires…it’s from a 594 MC. I thought they all have the coil tap…? Will that still work with the coil tap on the Vela?
I’ve just been seeing most of the 58/15’s have multiple wires…?

Is one wire braided and the other white? If so, the white is to split. Braiding is ground. Wire inside braided is hot.

The hot wire is braided. Inside is hot and outside ground. White wire is only for spilt. You can't swap wires around for phase.
