Yesterday I found out that the v12 finish handles rain pretty well! We played a show at Kentmorr Marina, about 7 miles south of the PRS Factory, on Rt 8. It started raining in the middle of our first break, and despite having close to $30k of music equipment on the deck, we covered up and waited it out because we love to play!

The rain subsided enough for a 90 minute set, so we fired it back up. A light rain/drizzle moved in towards the end of the set, and right before I was about to take a solo, the large umbrella that was covering the drums blew over and hit me right in my very sunburned neck. The water that had accumulated on the umbrella just drenched me and doused my Custom 24, mostly the neck. I continued on with the solo, and the v12 didn't get tacky at all!

I really like the v12.

I tried to dry it as best I could before putting it in the case (it was still raining) and yesterday I simply had to wipe the water spots off! It was way easier than getting water spots off of my car....

I had a different experience with a DGT. I had to walk blocks with a DGT in its case in drenching rain. Water got into the case. The guitar is OK, but the case still leaves sticky spots. I think some of the glue that holds the fabric down got reconstituted.

Might be time to replace the case, you know?
