Using volume pedal as an attenuator

Saw this video yesterday with Phillip using a volume pedal in the effects loop to get a nice bedroom volume sound with the amp cranked to cook the output tubes.
A little different than using an attentuator.

Also he discusses the PRS tremolo a bit later on.

While it won't actually get the output tubes cooking (the volume is reduced before the output section), it is an effective way to reduce the volume.

I run my volume pedal in the FX loop too--that way, it doesn't affect my gain settings. That's what the volume control on the guitar is for.
