Used Custom 22 value?

I found a used Standard 22 and I'm trying to figure out what I should offer. 1995 gold top with P90s. Looks like a case queen. No fret wear, no wear on the back, no wear anywhere that I can find.

It has PRS signature on the control cavity cover. Does that signify anything? Change the value?

Any issues I should look for?

Assuming it's stock, will these be Seymour Duncan P90s?

Any idea how will it sound compared to an R4 or R6?

Cheers,

SD

Edit: It's a Standard 22, not a Custom 22. Rest of the details stand.

Edit 2: He thinks it's a Standard 22. I think it's a McCarty. No model name on headstock. Pics added.

-Nah. The previous owner may have gone to a meet and greet with PRSh and had him sign it. Doesn't change the value.

-Nothing out of the ordinary. She looks like great to me.

- Yes those should be Duncans. AFAIK they've never produced their own P90's. Not USA anyway.

- Never tried an R4 or R6. Gibbys never been my thang.

-Can't tell from the pics if there is natural binding. If there is, it should be a Custom 22. I don't think it's a McCarty, you won't typically see birds or even less so locking tuners on a McCarty. But the great thing about PRS is they've never been afraid to break the model molds. There are exceptions to every rule in regards to model ID's with them. Can you pull the pups and get the MODCAT?

If that guitar came into my store I would probably tag it at 1499$ and watch it fly.

I don't think I'll be able to pull the pickups.

I'm pretty sure it's unbound but I'll take a look again. It has a thinner body than my McCarty. Now that I'm calling them Soapbars instead of P90s I'm getting better google results.

Standard means all mahogany with no cap, correct? If I'm right should make it warmer with a rounder attack and fuller mids?

Yes on all counts. Both my S2's and my Paul's are all mahogany bodies and they sure do give such nice warm vibes. The PG has IRW with Brazilian fretboard and it just melts my heart when I take it out for some bonding time.

You're gonna love that gold Soapy if you snag it!

If you're not sure what it is, sending the serial number to PRS should get you the info. :)

You can also look for the modcat in the case or in the case candy if they are available.

I can't answer your question on value, but it sure looks nice.

And welcome to the forum, and to the PRS addiction, Boogie brother!

I can tell you, PRS>Mesa = killer tones

It looks like it has maple binding , if so it's not a Standard.

Some (opaque colored) Standards from that era came with maple tops (at no extra charge). Negotiate price like it's a Standard.

That's a hottie. If I were currently in the market for another that's definitely one I would add. Hope things work out and you're able to snag it.

That one is a real beauty... serious 1954 Les Paul vibe.

Yeah. I have a '56 LP RI. If I get the chance I'm going to do a head to head and compare them.

That the PRS is a slab of mahogany with P90s is appealing, but I'm a little worried the PRS will be at a disadvantage as I've read PRS spec P90s were wound hot and have ceramic magnets.

Thanks.

The McCarty... let's just say that I've already carried on about how great it is enough that I think people are sick of hearing about it. Looking to see what else is out there in PRS land to learn how it might fit my wants/needs. Ultimately, I'd like something that contrasts it while maintaining the same basic feel (maybe a soapbar, 513, 405? I donno. I'll have to try them and find out), and maybe an SE or two that I can setup and leave in an alternate tuning.

But, as these are coming in other guitars are getting dumped. Nothing is sacred; I'm not a collector and dislike like having gear cluttering up my life. I stay more focused when my options are limited.
