Currently own a HeadRush FRFR108 powered speaker cab....which is awesome, plenty loud, but.....am not sure if the HeadRush FRFR112 would be an improvement or not...

Could folks chime in on the benefits of the FRFR112, and why they like theirs, compared to the FRFR108?

Am considering selling my 108 and upgrading to the 112, but need some practical advice whether 112 owners have any concerns or issues with theirs, or what they like about the 112.

Thank you in advance...

I have both, and I like both. If I had to choose? It depends. I use the 108s at home, and they sound great. If size is an issue, and you are simply using them at home, the 108s are good. But the 112s are not big or heavy, and they sound bigger, fuller, and add more balls. Plus they still sound good at bedroom levels or on stage. I’d choose the 112s is the little extra size is not an issue.

Thanks regards this. I've been weighing the possibilities of upgrading to the 112 sometime soon...and yes, I'd prefer to keep things comparatively simple, but realize that it's not as easy to discern what will work best for my application, until actually hearing the 112 in-house.

Do the 112s add more bass response, and decrease the chance of my Gigboard sounding too harsh? I've tried to tame my Gigboard by dialing back on some of the treble occasionally, but in fact, the Gigboard can be slightly problematic when it comes to putting together a rig that doesn't have too much top end, but doesn't sound boomy from the bass end either.

The comparison might be from my view is the difference between a brick and a gemstone. One you can build with, the other is something you cherish. Emil Werstler mentioned something to this effect recently. Also, in keeping things simple, I'd prefer to not end up "corrupting" anything that already is in good shape.

From what I've heard in YT vids, the 112 is a noteworthy thing altogether...your thoughts?

The 112 is bassier. Not sure I can respond about your Gigboard question. To my ears, the 112s are fuller and ballsier without sounding harsh.

Thanks for your response. It may be necessary for me to try to dial in a better tone with the Gigboard before considering the 112...doesn't make sense to upgrade to the 112 unless the benefits are substantial...and am thinking my back and knees aren't in that good shape to handle the weight of the 112 without some struggle. Settled. Will work with the 108 until music stores reopen and a firsthand examination of the 112 can be done.
