Upgrade tuners, SE 277 soapbar baritone

Hey all, first post on this site. I have one of these cool baritones. Love the sounds, but having trouble maintaining pitch on the top two strings. (I have it tuned A to A.)

Wondering if swapping in new tuners would do the trick. Has anyone here done that? What would be a good choice, no drilling needed?

SE nuts can bind. I would make sure the slots are the right size and not catching.

I don't find locking tuners necessary on fixed bridge models (tho string changes are easier).

I still dig the Gover 406, but John Mann does a really cool Phase II style mod.

But like Ovibos said, first rule out the nut as a cause of your trouble. Are strings going sharp or flat? What is your string winding method?

If the nut is right, and the guitar is strung well, there shouldn't be any problems with the stock tuners.
