After months of hunting for a vintage (pre 1995) Ce24, at a reasonable price, I finally scored what I hope will be the vintage “beater” I’ve been looking for. The guitar was listed on guitar center’s used section online, which I have been checking daily for months. It was priced $500 under any other Pre 95 CE on the bay or reverb, there were no photos uploaded, no serial number listed, no year listed, nothing. Just said CE-24 Black. I immediately called the store and asked If they could pull it out and tell me about it. The employee was not exactly eager to help, but he put me on hold while he pulled the guitar out. Once he had the guitar, he told me it was really beat up. He also told me that he didn’t think it was actually CE. My heart sank a little, but I convinced him to send me some photos so I could see for myself. Here’s what I got a few minutes later: A 1993 CE-24 in Black with OHSC. It was love at first sight, and I instantly bought it. Obviously, it needs a lot of elbow grease to clean up the rust, the finish has certainly seen better days, and the tuners have unfortunately been replaced. But I can live with all of that. I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that the neck is clean and the frets are in okay shape. I guess I’ll find out in a few days. Wish me luck!
