Sorry this has taken so long. I've already had it a couple weeks. Not being able to post pics via mobile anymore slowed things even more. Anyway... Got an ebay email for watched items a couple weeks back. I see a Vela Reclaimed and open immediately. Holy sh!t, there's four brand new ones at Wildwood Guitars! I almost just clicked and bought one right away. I decided to wait and call them when they opened in a couple hours. So I waste the next few hours at work looking at the 4 different guitars trying to decide which I liked best. So I call just before the store front opens and talk to Lance. I ask him if he can play them and give me some sort of evaluation. He was really accommodating and got it done within a couple hours and called me back. Naturally, it turns out that the one I like the looks of the least, sounds best to him. :D I kick it around for a few minutes and decide, screw it, I want this guitar to sound awesome and the looks are secondary since they all look pretty cool. So I take his advice and run with it.

I got the guitar and thought it sounded good outta the box. I felt I wanted a little more...well...something, outta the neck pickup. So I decided to raise it a bit. Ah-ha! that really brought it's best out. I adjust the bridge pickup to match volume wise and played around for bit(more on that later). About a week passes and I finally have some time to get it out to our rehearsal space and play at some higher volume with my drummer. Decided to raise the pickups even a hair more. We jammed a bit with a new little tune I came up with on the spot(way different from what the band does) and it was a lot of fun!

Don't know why, but every time I see one of them I regret not getting one...

Congrats on the great guitar!

That's how I felt too, so I figured I best pull the trigger. Glad I did and I'd highly recommend one to anybody that gets an opportunity. Very different from anything else I have so it's a welcome addition. The last couple things I've picked up have really been to expand my tonal palette. For the last 15 years I was focused on having enough guitars for my band that could do similar things but slightly different and be a backup in a pinch. It's been fun getting a few items to broaden my spectrum.

Nice...... and Lance @Wildwood has never steered me wrong on anything.
My first time dealing with them. Lance and the crew over there were top notch.

Congrats! Saw this on Instagram last night (sure would be nice if we could share from there, wouldn't it?).

So, how high did your pickups end up? Never thought about tweaking mine, but now you've got me curious...

Yeah it would be. I didn't actually measure but the neck pickup is pretty high, just a hair lower than fretting out on the highest fret. I set the bridge pickup to match it volume wise and be just a bit stronger in humbucker mode. Did it quick & on the fly while we were jamming. I'll have to double check it again playing by myself.

I dig the Vela. I find i play it differently than I do other guitars. Something about them pickups and the way they drive (or perhaps more accurately, under drive) the amp.
