Ordered a Santana retro 10-top back in June. My dealer said the earliest would be March 2025 or sometime later in 2025. They also put me on a rush order list. I just want to know how long it usually based on you guys’ experience
Not sure how true this is, but I have heard that the factory does runs of specific guitars and then switches gears and does batches of other models. Rinse and repeat as necessary. It seems to me, in the few years I have been watching the stuff that is available, that I do see large batches of specific models suddenly available at most dealers simultaneously. Then a few months later, "Oh, lot's of Vela's our there right now, and MEV's". Next thing you know "Gee, lot's of new CU24's and McCarty's at the dealerships". Now this is not scientific study as you may be able to discern from the wording, but if true, it could mean that your model chosen is not set for a new production cycle till next year some time, and unlike Private Stock, they are not going to throw a wrench into their system to accommodate a few specific stock model orders. All just opinion here, but somebody may be able to put some meat on the merits of what I am saying (or shoot it out of the air like a pheasant) ;~))

This. If they just finished a batch of Santanas, you’ll be waiting. Even worse is if they introduce a new model in the meantime. Those always seem to get priority so they have product for their dealers to sell immediately at introduction.
Patience. People have been known to buy other guitars while they’re waiting for an ordered one.:);)😇

Welcome to the forum, jaeger! I’ve ordered a couple of guitars from SW. PRS will often move the date around. For instance, my stoptail Tremonti went from 2 month wait to 6 to 12 and then ended up being delivered within 11. So it seems if it gets pushed back enough times there’s the possibility of it coming earlier than what the retailer has in their system. PRS appears to be one of those companies that has a mindset of “it’s ready when it’s ready”. And yes the guitar was worth the wait, every PRS I ordered was. By the way, my Mesa Boogie amps were the same way (pre-Gibson acquisition).

I'm about to find out on this. I almost pulled the trigger on a new NF3 yesterday, but it wasn't a maple neck. And I want the white body so...so time to send a couple e-mails or make a couple phone calls.
I figure if it's going to be a while I'll have the cash in hand to pay it outright without chalking up money on my credit card or credit line. I must be getting a tad more frugal in my old age.🤔🤣

Unless I Am Spec'ing Out My Own Private Stock Custom Build I Am Only Interested In Buying In Stock Guitars So I Can See What I Am Getting And Ask Specific Questions About That Specific Guitar To The Dealer (Unless I Am Seeing It In Person). There Are So Many Good Guitars Available, Why Wait?

Well, I get that, but the stores I deal with are so good about customer satisfaction, they will never see a sub par or disappointing looking instrument leave their building. While if it did happen it would involve another wait, that makes me far more comfortable about ordering one. I said a while back I wouldn't order a guitar blind again without playing one to make sure it's what I want, but now that there are stock/test instruments available I'm willing to wait for the exact one I want.
It's not like I don't have anything on my own rack to play in the meantime...;)

I Hear Ya...The Other Side Of This Coin Is No Two Guitars Are Alike. You Just As Easily Could Get A Better Playing One Or A Worse Playing One By Ordering Blind. PRS Is About As Safe As It Gets Out Of The Major Manufacturers These Days When It Comes To Ordering Blind. The Fit And Finish Are Going To Be Wonderful In The Huge Majority Of Instances...There Is Not Much Of A Question There With Those Of Us That Have Been With The Brand For A While. As Much As I Like A Great Looking Guitar, I Like A Great Playing One Even More! Overall I Have Been Lucky Enough Not To Come Across Too Many Duds Over The Decades But I Have And Some Of Those Have Been Private Stocks And Every Level In Between. We All Want And Like What We Like And I Get It. My Hope Is Always This...That Everybody Gets The Guitar Of Their Dreams Every Time They Buy A Guitar. When That Doesn't Happen, And It Does Happen...It Sucks. :)
