I just got my first PRS, an SE McCarty 594 singlecut in Turquoise. I ordered it from Sweetwater and what I got does not look near the color of the pics or the color on the PRS website. Its more of an Emerald Green than turquoise. anybody else have this issue?

The color will always vary from guitar to guitar. I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect it to match the PRS website picture. My SE SAS is very green according to every woman who sees it, but it sounds great! Everyone here should have heard my mantra that blue guitars sound better. It has to be about how it sounds, which is the ultimate determinant. I hate the color of my KL 1812. It is one of my very best sounding guitars and will never leave me.

I guess I'm too picky about my guitars. I wanted the turquoise blue and got something that looks like shrek crapped on it. It plays and sounds great it just irritates me every time I look at it that I gave almost $1000 for something and didn't get what I was expecting. I was just wondering if PRS turquoise was always more green so I don't make the same mistake in the future. I just looked at others on reverb and I'm guessing that the majority of them are the off green instead of blue.

Yeah that’s hack me off too as there’s a clear difference and the pictures of some of the turquoise look beautiful, return if you’re in the window and ask for a picture of the next you buy

I would return it, someone else will probably like the color, and if it doesn't match the picture they had of it on the website note that in your return.

Unless you’re choosing an opaque color, it’s a crapshoot as to the exact color you’re going to get - mostly because of the way that particular piece of wood takes the dye, but also the dye lot that was used, and how heavy-handed the person was when applying the dye. Imo, PRS Matteo Blue and Whale Blue show the greatest variations - for Whale you’ll get anything from royal blue to a pale blue-grey, and for Matteo, anything from a rich dark turquoise to a pale green-tinged turquoise.

Return it. Joys of online purchases. The best way to avoid NGD disappointment is buy in person.

The SE line of guitars definitely seems to take more liberties with the color-names than the U.S./Core line does. (We actually just touched upon this in another thread recently, too--discussing SE's whale blue vs. sapphire, etc.)

My SE Turquoise SAS is actually a nice dark-ish turquoise. Definitely not leaning on the greener side at all.

Lighting makes a huge difference. If you look at it in the sunlight, it will look much different than under interior lights. Store photos can vary depending on lighting as well. There is no shame in sending it back if you don’t like it.

Sorry for not getting pics up quicker, just got home after being gone for 2 weeks and had a lot to do. 2nd pic is what I based my order off of from Sweetwater. 1st is what i got, its a lot greener in person than in the pic. After looking at them side by side I'm probably just being to nit picky.

That's a matter of lighting - if you put it under a bright photographer's light, it'll look like the pic. Either way, I'd definitely call it turquoise. For contrast, this is my Emerald:
