Tuning stability problem after bending.

Hi all, I recently bought an original PRS Mira 2008 (#814). I am very happy with it, it has a beautiful sound. Love it. The only annoying issue is that when I bend the G string it constantly goes out of tune. After serious bending it goes flatter and flatter with each bend. Marking the string with a black marker after the nut shows that the string is getting looser and looser with each bend. The first thing I tried was new strings. Let them settle for a month, stretched them and made sure I used the tuners correctly. All strings stay in tune nicely, however, G goes out of tune. I lubricated the nut slots with a 2B pencil, which helped a lot on all other strings returning to pitch, accept G. Can I assume that my tuner damaged and slipping? Or is this still fixable with turning the tuner head screw even tighter? I tried this for a about 2 mm already and it seems to be much better, but I am afraid to turn it much further? As compared to the other tuners its is much more difficult to turn around the tuner now. Can I damage anything when I give a it a quarter or even half turn? Or do I need to see a technician and get the tuner replaced?

Thanks in advance, JJ.

To answer myself: yes, another quarter turn is no problem. Tuning stability is now perfect. :D

Hey, Im having a similar issue. My Mccarty 594 goes out of tune whenever I bend on the G and B strings. I can hear a small sound by the tuner where the string is getting caught / clanking. I don’t hear or notice an issue with the nut. Any advice? Thanks

Sounds like it might be binding/catching in the nut. Try lubing up those two spots w/graphite or something like Nut Sauce. If that helps, you can keep doing that or get the slots widened just a hair.

Just answered a similar question in another thread. I agree with @alantig , it is almost always the nut when these symptoms pop up.

Just checking back in: I restrung the guitar with 10s and added some pencil graphite to the nut and seems like the issue is fixed (at least for now). Will definitely keep this in mind in the future. Appreciate all the help can’t wait to start enjoying my first PRS!
