Tuning Stability Issues

And apparently numb nuts are unavoidable.

Paul has done a Tedtalk on “numb nuts”! They are what some other guitar companies use (apparently the same material that is used for toilet plumbing).

Wow, I guess you guys got tired of trolling YouTube and Facebook? Don't you have homework or house chores to do?

This is the level of juvenile humour that exists here Jason. No trolling meant, just having a giggle!

The advice Sergio gave was time he doesn’t extend often as he’s a busy Dad.

Your problem is most likely larger gauge strings in a nut that has been cut for lesser gauge. Some guys use “Nut Sauce”. Or take their guitar to a luthier for a set up for their chosen strings.

I appreciate you are disappointed with the problem, but we were trying to include you in the humour side of the forum. It’s not all serious talk, you will understand that when you hang around here some more.

There’s some really knowledgeable people here. Calling them “trolls” isn’t the best way to start.

Jason, you haven't said what gauge of strings you're using. Lube alone won't solve the problem if the strings are larger than 9-42 and the slots have not been professionally opened. The first thing I do when I buy a used PRS is take it to my local luthier (who used to work for PRS) and have the nut slots widened to whatever I need. My luthier and I believe that the nut is the single most critical part for good intonation. I have an SE CU 24 that I put a new Mannmade milcom on, and it' stays in tune as well as my core. And I whammy.

Thanks for the response. It's an S2 Standard 24, they come shipped with 10-46s. I've been using the same gauge since purchasing it new from Sweetwater. It's not binding at the nut. Read my previous posts on what I have done to determine that binding(caused by a pinching and friction of the string between the groove). Essentially I've eliminated the nut from the equation to come to the determination that it's the bridge.

While I'm no luthier or any kind of expert for that matter, I've been playing, setting up, and assembling guitars for over 25 years, so I'm pretty comfortable on the instrument.

Anyway thanks again for the input.
