Tuner Question

I bought a 2002 CE22. The tuners have been swapped. Are these the American tuners or did they swap in SE locking tuners? Trying to figure out what I have as I’m not a big fan of the chrome buttons but don’t know what to order to replace them.

I don't think the tuners have been swapped. Those are stock tuners for 2002, called phase II locking tuners.

Oh, ok. I had a 2002 way back when and they had the Phase I tuners I guess. They must have swapped over mid year or something.

They did switch from phase 1's (winged tuners) to phase II's about that time. I was not aware that there were 2002 guitars with phase 1's but it doesn't surprise me.

The more I think about it, I may have just always assumed it was 2002 because that’s when I bought it. I did use Christmas and birthday money to get it which would have meant it was somewhat early in the year so it’s entirely possible it was actually a 2001.

Yup those are the first gen Phase II keys. Note the small buttons and the nickel plated shafts. They started showing up on guitars in 2002.
