Some here know that I had some surgery on the ol' ticker recently. Anyway, I've been doing cardiac rehab, and they weigh us in at the beginning of the session.

Today the nurse came up to me and said, with kind of a shocked look, "I've been here a really long time, and you're the first person I know of who has actually met the weight goal!" Woo!

I know, it's trivial, not exactly a big accomplishment, but I feel good that my lifestyle changes are actually working. I'm down 35 pounds since August!

My grandfather (who lived to age 91) always said, "If you don't have your health, you have nothing." What I've learned recently tells me one thing: he was right.

You can own the best guitars in the world (as a PRS player, I do!), but if you're too weak to pick them up and play them, or can't do much else, it's not a really good day no matter how many you have. Etc.

Good going Les...I hope that L'esteban is also meeting his goals, and supporting you!

I did not have surgery, but I was pretty unhealthy in January. Enlarged liver, A1C over 9, BP out of control. Gastro told me to lose 25% or more of my body weight or else go through a liver biopsy. I HATE NEEDLES.

So with a radical change in diet, and a $10/month gym right down the road, I have been able to lose 38 pounds, drop my A1C 3 points to 6.1, and get off of half my meds - including my BP medication.

It is a struggle and hard work every day. So from someone who understands how hard it is, a sincere congratulations! Keep it up.

You, too, L'esteban...

Well, you are in much better shape, too! Yes, my A1C went from over 9 to under 6, so that's major. Same deal for me, radical change in diet, exercise daily, much reduced meds including no B/P meds! Congrats to you, too! It's worth it, am I right?

Lesteban says thanks!

My wife almost likes me now.

Well, sorta.

When I was a teenager and world be in a bad mood, I would always wonder why adults would say, "At least you have your health". I found out exactly why in '92.

I popped a small pimple on my should with an un-sterilized needle. As time went by, a lump in my armpit grew larger. I did nothing until I noticed an enlarged vein across my chest to my solar plexus.

I had to call my sister after the doctors dosage didn't work. Health is everything.

Sounds like a scary thing!

Great going Les!!!
With the physical difficulties I have from time to time I truly understand your grandpa's advice.

We're like TWINS...only you have talent :) Congrats sir.

Am I hearing "Men of the PRS Forum Holiday Calendar to Raise Money for New Private Stocks 2015?" I am game as along as the pic is not from the waist up or neck down...

Thanks guys! :top:

We're like twins, and I have no talent. I just kind of noodle around until something sounds good, and then I go with it.

I'm down with the calendar!

Awesome job Les! That's a big deal, don't minimize the accomplishment!

Thanks, Vaughn! The best part is the much lower A1C, not the weight loss.

Because my pants from the last time I weighed this little...well...they'd be bell bottoms from the 1970s..if I still had them. So being thinner means clothes shopping.

And I'd much, much rather shop for guitars and amps than clothes!! ;)

Great news.
I just went through a similar thing (cardiac event... don't you love that) no surgery needed and no lasting damage.
Scared the chips out of me so I dropped 30 pounds!
Keep it up, there are a lot of guitars out there to play!

Excellent that you didn't need surgery or have damage! And smart to drop the weight.

As of yesterday I'm down about 37...but as I told my wife, I'm old and thin instead of old and fat. Either way, I'm still old. ;)
