What is your experience with Reverb?
Thanks!
James,
Reverb sellers are much like eBay's, your reputation is built on transactions for either buying or selling.
Regards my personal experience, all but one of my my purchase transactions went smoothly. The one that didn't was due to a faulty 3-way toggle that was wired incorrectly by the online retailer selling the guitar (their tech bungled the repair which required my tech to rewire the toggle, at the retailer's cost, which they agreed they'd pay for).
All other Reverb purchases I've experienced no issues with, either on shipping costs, delivery time, item as described, etc. Most of my experience has been that the items purchased were in better than expected condition if I purchased from a reputable seller. (Typically, a retail online store with good Reverb feedback). A used item purchased from an individual seller usually has some cosmetic issues that are generally revealed in the sales listing, and may vary based on the seller's reputation for quality customer service.
The key is to do your due diligence and research what you find. Asking questions of the seller if you are genuinely interested in the piece are welcomed because you're more likely to conduct a transaction than if perhaps you don't ask questions.
Granted, there's a lot of stuff you'll need to wade through before you can find what you'd like. The key is to not be overwhelmed or overthink too much. Once you've found one, ask your questions ands consider a purchase. It's relatively straight-forward. Reverb is a good place for buying music gear.
If possible, I usually don't order too far afield from home; the carton will more likely be delivered promptly than if ordering across the nation or internationally.
