tremonti custom se tremolo issues

Anyone on here ever have any tuning problems with their Tremonti SE custom? recently ordered the guitar from sweetwater and its good and all..a little blah finish wise..but the second i touch the bridge the whole guitar goes either a half step down or up and even if I'm not using the tremolo i have to tune the guitar about every 5 minutes. any help would be appreciated!
Oh i suppose i should introduce myself too since im new to the forum! My name is Nick..I'm 24...from connecticut.. mainly a drummer but have played guitar for some time now as well!
Again any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Nick,

It sounds like the strings are pinching in the nut. Without detuning the guitar, pull each string up and out of the nut slot. The string should exit the slot smoothly without binding or pinching. Widening the slots with nut slot files or exacto knife should solve the problem and will need to be done especially if the string gauge has been changed.

ohh i knew I should of just left that bit about being a drummer out! But on the other hand thank you everyone for the help especially Shawn..now i just gotta figure out why my sticks sound weird when i hit the strings with them :vroam:
