A Tremonti has been on my wish list for sometime. While I would love a new one, it seems like I am waiting for a unicorn and the right one never seems to be available. I would love a charcoal (love the natural back) or a charcoal burst (almost like a silver burst) with a stop tail. The tremelo version comes up often on Reverb and there are some nice looking ones there now. Before I take the plunge it would be helpful to know if older Tremonti’s should also be considered.

How have the specs, neck, scale length, and pickups changed over the years? I hear great things about the current Tremonti pickups (a 2021 review). Would the pickups in a 2010 model, for example, be the same as a 2020/2022?

The SC trem Tremonti is the standard signature model, set apart mostly by its signature Tremonti pickups and pattern thin neck. The hard tail is a drop C version with a 25.5-inch scale length with, I believe, a flame maple neck and is recent.

I'll be honest I've never thought twice about the hardtail Tremonti, it was trem all the way. I'd been after a single cut with a trem for a while, even before I owned a PRS. That said I think the only difference is stoptail vs trem.

BridgePRS Patented Tremolo, Gen III with Trem-Up Route or Adjustable Stoptail

All other specs the same.

Obviously, Earlier bridge pickups were rounded vs squabbin. I've also seen some covered, not many but they are out there. I've read about them only available PS, custom, or afterwards. Who knows? It didn't effect my purchase.

Tuners and finishes over the years.

Biggest is the early years had a Wide Fat neck profile. Here's a link with more.

Here's more info to help

Here's an early example

The Tremonti hardtail has the exact same spec as the regular Tremonti with the exception of the hardtail bridge. The drop C guitar was a "hybrid baritone" limited edition. Pickups, scale length, woods, will have remained the same through out the years, as well as the pattern thin neck. The latest models will have the gen 3 trem and nitro finish.

I have both a 2020 and a 2010 model. The 2020 is brighter in tone but that may not come down to just the bridge and finish, I'm sure the specific pieces of wood add to this too. I really love both equally. Overall I'd say if you find one you like and the price is right grab it regardless of year. This is the 2020

excellent information. This is very helpful, especially as you can speak directly to similarities between an older and newer model. Great looking guitar! Thank you.

Have a signature Tremonti, not a hard tail, and plays and sounds amazing.
