Hello dear people and fans from PRS.

This is my first post here :-) and sadly it is one with a problem. :-)

I have two PRS, a Tremonti SE and an Ace SE. I now wanted to have the US-pickups installed. And why not build in a PRS ACC-4108 Push/Pull Poti 500 as well in both of them.
Being not good in soldering at all I now looked for a friend who knows how to install pickups and gave both guitars to him.

So we now loaded the Tremonti SE with US Tremonti pickups. And the Ace was loaded with 59/09.
With the Ace the Push/Pull Poti was installed instead of the Neck Volume Poti. With the Tremonti the Push/Pull Poti was installed instead of the Bridge Volume Poti.
(I have pictures, but I havent found a function here do upload pictures...)

While the Ace sounds good we now have problems with the PU-switch of the Tremonti. Probably we have to replace it - but thats not the reason I am here.
While checking out the swith-problem I was told by someone else (via internet), that it is unusual to use the Push/Pull Poti on the Volume Poti.
And I was told as well that there should be capacitors with the Push/Pull Poti.

So did we got the wiring totally wrong? Anyone here who knows a little bit about it and can help?

:-)
Best, Berni

Not sure on the wiring problems (never let me near electronics in a maintenance capacity haha!) but I have only ever had push pull pots on the volume, never had them on tone controls before.

Pics of the Ace SE would be amazing, lovel them myself!

For PRS the Tone Pot is usually the Push Pull Pot.
If you look at all the PRS wiring drawings that is what you will find
It will work either way. The switch is a separate circuit from the pot and can be located anywhere. I put a push pull on both so I could have more flexibility splitting the coils on my SE Custom.

Of course it can be put anyplace all I said was PRS normally puts them in the tone position , I have tried them in the volume position before also but find that it gets in the way. I much prefer the freeway switch or mini toggles when I have the option
