Trading for an Early edition Santana SE

I have the opportunity to get an early version of the Santana SE. Its the original body shape in tobacco burst. The seller is getting back to me with pics and the serial. Suppose to be in great shape (only 2 small dings on the body) but he has changed out the pups to Epi Classic 57s. He wants me to make a trade offer. I see stock older ones selling for $250-350. I am considering offering up my Squier VM Jag Bass SS and amp + Singlecut SE, or possibly my Tremonti SE or Bradley LPC (high sentimental value to me)

What would be fair? A little help and info would be appreciated.

offering up a sentimentally valuable guitar for a guitar you desire just cos it's up for offer seems stupid to me, you'll regret it. if you see others going for the price bracket you posted better to save up and buy it out right (that's what I would do)

The Bradley was a possible trade, not likely. For that to happen, this Santana SE would need to be astounding.
The others are very doable for trade.

I'd offer the guy $200-$250, tops.
I wouldn't trade any guitars ... you'll only regret it (especially the Bradley).
Bradley was a name that Veneman Music used to brand their own line of import guitars back in the 80's before they were bought out by Guitar Center. They were actually very good instruments, IMO.

Actually, Veneman was importing before the 80's (mine is a 1977), made at the Matsumoku factory in Japan. It was $400 when my dad bought it for me way back when. Thats like $1500 in todays dollars. And yes, its still an excellent guitar. I should'nt have put it in the list of tradeables.

Unless you are just hungry for an early Santana SE, I would try to get it on the cheap for cash. The only trade you listed that I'd consider would be the Bass and Amp, not including the Singlecut SE... The newer SE Santana guitars are much higher on the quality gauge and are, IMO a truer SE "version" of Carlos' actual signature guitar...

Thanks. I didn't realize the older versions were just that... older (not better). I am in a "no buy" mode to keep the Mrs. happy. I offered up the Bass and amp trade , the seller declined. It's time to lock my GAS in the closet for a while.
