Too Many Les Threads

I just peeked over here in the amp section to see if there are any new threads, and I don't see any.

What I do see are the way too many threads I started, and the way too many that have my name on the most recent post. This tells me that I am obsessed with this stuff, too obsessed, and I should stop posting new threads. And stop posting altogether because I've said the same things over and over for the last 100 years or more.

I'm a garrulous old man. But can I stop myself from wasting bandwidth? No.

This thread is a perfect example. It isn't about anything at all, except that I post here too often.

It's embarrassing.

Either I have to stop posting, or I have to have a secret identity. Like...you know, Lesteban. So...I'm actually Lesteban and I'm merely borrowing Les' machine to log on and rant my rants.

How many of you believe this?

Less Les? No way.

I don't read all your posts and to be honest, I avoid some because I know they'll give me GAS. You've got a freaking good bunch of guitars, amps and pedals (and no doubt mics and other studio gear, like that Rode ribbon mic which I really want but would never use... Oh and that Furman, and that, well you get the picture), and your posts just make me want them ALL.

Keep going the way you're going I say, don't think people don't respond because they're not interested, or think you post too much stuff, you're a pillar of this community, well you were around the time when the Romans built the Parthenon so it's kinda fitting...

I try to read many of your threads because they're always entertaining and full of useful knowledge and interesting opinions but your needs and purposes are vastly different from mine because you're a professional, and I'm.... well,... not. But I do love the insight you give.

And the pics. Love the pics!

Maybe what we need isn't less Les threads, but more not Les threads?

Seriously??!! Keep rolling, Les.

Sometimes, life keeps us from extracurricular activities and sometimes technology fails us. I know I sometimes miss new posts despite hitting the "New Posts" button. The new forum software is much better about this.

Les I'm sure would thank you all for the kind words, but I, Lesteban, have stolen his computer and will simply appropriate his online identity until he...uh oh, here come the cops. Gotta go!

I recall, very clearly, when I was the one with the most posts around here. I remember thinking "man, I really need to get off the internet and play my guitar a lot more."

So I did.

The downside was...

[wait for it...]

[WAIT FOR IT...}

...I became a happier person with less stress in my life. I became a husband who was 'present' at the dinner table. I started to spend a lot more time with my child. I became a better guitar player than I was a year ago. I threw the ball for my dogs and went for walks through some pretty cool forests. YMMV.

I totally agree with this. My own version; I was involved in some competitive on-line gaming (COD), and spent a lot of time on-line in the gaming world. Just over a year ago I decided that it was taking up too much of my time, and quit, cold turkey. I haven't gamed, competitive, or otherwise, in 13 months. Life is better. More time with the Mrs., and with the pups. Definitely more sleep! Now, I miss those guys, but my BP is lower, and I find myself more engaged in other things that I've gotten away from. Guitar for example. I've probably become a better employee for my employer as well.

As long as the things you like don't become an obsession that disrupts your life, or those in your life, in a negative way, have at it!

This is good thinking.

I think I became truly obsessed with this stuff around the time my last kid graduated college and moved to LA. The other two were already out of college and had moved to Chicago. The house was empty, my wife and I kind of rattling around by ourselves in a place that was too big.

She likes to watch TV to relax. I don't. So...online participation to an extent is what resulted from needing something to do to relax that wasn't related to my work. Then posting became a habit...habit..habit...

My name is Les and I'm a PRSForumaholic.

You'd think I'd go make a record or do something creative with my time instead of posting constantly. But no. Look, I'm posting right now!

I am one weird dude.

Maybe I should go cold turkey like Bodia.

This is going to sound like I'm kissing your a$$, or worse, but please don't. I wouldn't have a Koko Boost if I hadn't read one of your threads. And while I was already in love with the HXDA, there may have been a little nudge that made it happen sooner, rather than later. Although, I think I'm good on gear, and I'm not a recording musician, so, go ahead....cold turkey :D

Real life is way more fun.

I joined the first PRS forum, but lost track of it taking the girls canoeing, skating, skiing, dancing in the streets. It crashed and rose as 2 new places, one of which crashed and rose as 2 other new places.

This is a really nice place and much easier to keep up with now that both of my daughters have their own lives. When I go quite, it is probably because I'm with them...or with growing frequency these days, visiting with some of the people I met here. I still prefer real life, but enjoy the company here.

More Les, more Les, more Les, more!

Les, I love reading your posts. I've learned a lot from you. I don't generally reply because I have nothing to add.

Let´s make some jokes on Les´ expense:

- "How many threads did Les start?" "All!"
- When Paul is about to place a statement in the forums, he needs to ask Les first.
- If somebody places a pic of his PRS in the forums, he needs to ask Les first for his compliance in posting one of Les´ PRSi.
- Every registered and unregistred member of PRS forums is Les actually.
...
