Way too much hassle for me. Even when they don't wang up and have a D-Tuna. Changing strings is torture.

I'm with Jessie on this but hey do whatever you want it's your guitar and I'm sure the guys at PTC will do an amazing job

I hate Floyds almost as much as I hate spiders...
...only when they crawl up your skirt.:D (j/k bud!)

I don't always Floyd, but when I do, I prefer the Raven.

And since I interpreted your question as to whether or not you should Floyd the SE 7, I voted HELL YES. A trem lock would be a great idea for those big tuning changes, but otherwise, that's a rock monster.

I voted no, but as with most other things it's a matter of personal preference.

I had a Jackson Kelly for years that had a Floyd, and I hated it. As others have mentioned, string changes were an absolutely miserable experience. I was constantly fidgeting with the fine tuners to keep it in tune. If I rested my hand on the bridge (to palm mute, for instance) it threw everything sharp. I ended up making a rudimentary block to keep it locked in place because I couldn't stand the floating business. The folks who love them will swear by them, and to each his or her own. I don't have a need to wank on the trem arm or do super-dives, so for me there's zero upside and a ton of hassle associated with a Floyd.

I like having a guitar with a Floyd and I wish they'd do an SE Custom 24 with a Floyd other than the Torero but I still voted no as it would be too much expense and messing around. If you want a 7 string with a Floyd, there are plenty out there to choose from.

I voted no as personally I dont care for folyds. But if you like them, more power to you. They are a good system, they just don't work for me.

I voted yes. Not because I would, but because you want it...right? If you're thinking about it and asking the question, you have a desire and use for the Floyd. You can always buy another to have a fixed bridge. Go for it.
Plus - it will give us a nice PTC thread to watch:laugh:

Dang, that looks awesome!

Do it.

Back in the 80s I wouldn't have a guitar without a Floyd. Once you get the restringing thing down its not so bad. Back then most everybody stayed in A440 and didn't use drop tunings quite as much as today. I did grow tired of the extra effort to restring and went away from trems for a while. I bought a cu24 trem last year because I wanted a trem again and because I wanted a cu24/5909 guitar and im glad I did. Just love that guitar.

I do like my prs but nothing works like a well set up Floyd, period. I wonder how a Floyd with locking tuners would work? The locking nut is more of a pain to me than the Floyd itself. Any thoughts on this???

I would break strings at the saddle on the Floyd so I would have extra wraps on the tuners so I could cut the string at the break and un wind, insert string back in the block and tune back to pitch. No stretching required.

Brilliant! Of course, I would want to fix, or lube the saddles so they don't break in the first place...

That used to be my old trick when I was on the road. I could break a string & be back in action in a minute.
