A handy (and very convincing) reminder of what your guitar is capable of all on its own.

Before I go any further, we're going to collectively not acknowledge that he's playing one of those... things. Hence, I can post the video here. Plus, we all know if he played a PRS, the sun would implode and our solar system would be sucked into a black hole of awesome. So it might be better this way.

ANYWAY

A nice example of using the guitar for a variety of very tasty tones. And for the brave, what's sure to be a learning experience in getting the most tone out of your hands. As a young guy, with a pedalboard larger than a few US states and territories, I think this'll be good for me.

Apologies if this one has made the forum before... just ran across it today and wanted to share.

Gotta take the s out of https for the vid to work.
Joe is a great player.

He does own PRS guitars, he's no dummy. Whenever I see a big name showing his/her collection I filter out the endorsement brand to see what they paid cash for. Vai, Zakk, Satch, Joe B., etc all have at least a small sample of PRS in the house.

Cool vid, and he demonstrates (much better than I am capable of, obviously) how I personally prefer to play: plugged straight into a tube amp turned up loud, control everything from the guitar. I cannot relate to nor understand people that say they just open up the volume and tone and never touch them. Sure I use the occasional fuzz or OD, but 90% of the time I control everything from the guitar.

Saw him in person a few weeks ago here in STL at the Fox Theater. What a great show... and what great tone this guy gets. He recently switched from all Marshall back to all vintage Fender amps. He had a small army of small Fenders on the stage behind him... they all sounded amazing. He has a pretty amazing guitar collection too. Jerk! :D

In my case, the man is preachin' to the choir.

I'm a big fan of single channel amps, and guitar volume and tone controls. The controls on a PRS are among the very best on the market, and really work well with amps.

Imagine JB rocking a PS McCarty Singlecut...what a perfect match that would be.

He's a great player but for me it's easier to do things with my feet and I'm not a multi-tasker with my hands, too much to think about and I'm not a person who needs to be all over the stage, so it works. I generally also prefer a crystal clean amp like a Twin Reverb on about 2, with pedals for dirt. David Grissom recently said that he hates Twins on 2, but I'm just a pedal guy although very old school with music like JB.

The only thing I change is the pickup selection, and even then I'm a bridge pickup man.

I have a two channel amp but I'm the only guitar player in the band I'm in now so I find myself preferring to stay on dirty channel and cleaning it up with volume pot. I run a Gmajor through loop for effects and no pedals

I've played my 5150 for a long time now but I'm starting to want something different.

I don't consider myself a great player but I still keep trying to improve my tone. Listening to guys like JB helps keep that fire burning for sure.
