Yep. Dissatisfied with my previous tone, my ears had been seeking a softer, smoother tone. It took quite a bit of research, but I settled on a 2015 McCarty Non 10-Top with Phase II tuners and 58/15 Pickups. Thought to save some cash and remember that tone was more important than beauty. So meet my soon-to-be new Plain Jane 2015 McCarty...

Here she is:

That's a great guitar. I've seen that seller's Reverb page and there's some great stuff posted. You got a good one!

Thanks, the YT videos of the McCarty model are what drew me in. I had been thinking about that, and the McC 594, but couldn't justify the 594s higher cost. There were several gently used McC 594s somewhat more within my reach price-wise, but the 2015 spoke more softly and carried a bigger stick, so I complied...

i think the guitar will be named, 'Ms. T. Soft,' after listening to some clean tones videos with the McC.

The seller has some very reasonably priced pieces (46 last count) on Reverb. Only foreseeable issue is that the seller is located in Texas (where rolling power blackouts from recent snowy weather are disrupting normal life). Hope to hear from the seller soon, but can wait until the item initially ships.

Will soon put at least one of my guitars up on the 'Bay to ease through the financial part of the purchase. Will be offering an S2 SC Antique White Standard, which PRS no longer makes...someone will receive a good deal with this...

Plain ole PRS is what you got. Lie! Its sweet as sweet! Sweeter even! Congrats.

I'll be honest; it's a non 10-top that has some figure, not a lot. Certainly not supermodel looks, but truthfully, I was more concerned about how she'll sound that how she looks. Good news is that any cosmetic issues are very tiny, if at all visible. Bad news is that the guitar is located in Austin, TX. It may be a while until they get back up and working again, following the snowy weather there...

I think I got a good deal on this, just the same.

Very nice. I'm very curious to hear your opinion of the 5815 pickups.

My guess is that the 58/15s will be similar to the McCarty pups except they'll be more in tune with the recent vintage tone Paul was trying to find.

Nice! I really like that top. Very unique. Enjoy it

Thanks! It's got some interesting grain pattern, but not a lot of defined flame. That's OK, for the value, tone is what matters most, and the McCarty will do the job well..

Tell me about, if you could, please. Am interested to hear if the tuners are phase II, instead of vintage, how the pickups sound to you, how well the guitar does low-to-moderate overdrive...
Pretty sure I've got Phase III tuners, I'll check when I get home this evening. Love the pickups...they do clean to metal crunch with ease...I bounce between the HXDA in mild overdrive and the Archon near maxed out, both with a KTR in front of it.

Could be, IIRC, the ones on mine will be nickel. Will check the listing images for nickel/brass. Update: the tuners look like polished nickel/brass, not polished nickel / brushed brass.

The pickups will be awesome, from what YT videos I've previously seen. Will be using this through a HeadRush Gigboard dialed in exactly where the guitar will sing. Looking forward to this.
