Anyone have time off for the holidays? Any plans?

I have off work til January 7th. The last 6 months has been pretty taxing on me at work. Not going on any trips or anything, just need some time to reset. We'll do the family thing the 24, 25th and aside from that, no big plans. Gonna try to organize the music room here at home and tie up some loose ends. Probably restring and play some ignored guitars. Maybe hit a few music stores?

I retired in 2008. Now I can’t figure how I had time to work!

My daughter asked me once, “Dad, do you ever miss it?”

“Ya mean miss standing in the rain at 2AM looking at water roiling out of the street from a broken water main, knowing I have to get the street back in service by 7AM? No, I sure don’t miss that!”

Congratulations from me too! You’ve arrived at a sweet spot (and getting rare, nowadays)!

4 more working days and I'll be taking the rest of my life off and more time to play

Congrats!

Excellent.

Bankers’ Hours are a flippin’ myth! Worked last Friday, work tomorrow, the 26th, and New Years Day. Now, I do enjoy getting Columbus Day and a bunch of other days that no one else gets off (except the Federal Reserve, which dictates my schedule). But these holidays this year are a screw job.

OTOH, I did change strings on 3 guitars and changed a nut last weekend, and changed strings on 2 more this weekend. Played so much my hands hurt today! It’s been years since I’ve felt this! (Also means I must have played for over 6 hours)

College professor. Off since 12/10 until 1/15. I need to do some prep work, etc. but no classes, which is where all the work comes in. The last several years I have also taken the summer off from teaching. Not only am I getting older, but summer courses are now on-line, not my cup of tea. So yes, I get to play guitar quite a bit!
