I've been shopping for an SE for a little bit, and found what's labeled as a "Tiger Stripe". It would cost about the same as a Starla. Is it any better or worse? I'm looking for something that can create some hard rock tones.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Nice Looking Axe. It will certainly give you the Hard Rock Tones you are looking for. Tiger Stripe is a fancy name for Flamed Maple. That one is a highly figured specimen. The SE Single Cuts are getting hard to find, I would jump on that one if you have the funds.

Thanks for the reply Wakester. Do you know anything about the pickups, ie has PRS improved them or the overall build of the guitar since this earlier model was made?

The SE pickups were made by G&B for the Korean made guitars, I am not 100% what model the pick ups are comparable to. They started making them in 2004, the one you are looking at has a serial code that says it was made in 2010. A lot of people think the SE pickups are not as articulate as US Made ones, but I kind of like all the ones I own. I usually change out the pots and caps to clean up the pickups.

I have a couple of Singlecut SE’s, a stoptail and a trem. Both of mine are 2011. The stoptail is bone stock because it sounded incredible to my ears. The trem got pimped out. I have flipped several others for dinero. All of them were very good. A couple of them were excellent. Go for it.
