Has anyone played one of these? there's one on reverb, it appears to be one of maybe 110 or 120 that were made in '11 to the specs of the original '85s. I was going to grab a newer CU24 because I LOVE that Eriza Verde finish, but I do like the smaller neck joint (I had a CE24 back in the day with that smaller heel and loved it).

Just curious, I hadn't hear of these guitar before.

I have a couple of them. Great Guitars. Not exactly to 85 specs, but pretty damn close. The 59/09 P-ups are much easier on the ears )IMHO) than the old stamped T & B P-ups. However, there should be a set of throwback T & B P-ups in the case............ If that is what you are in to. These shipped with the 59/09s in the Guitar.

Thanks :) The one I saw on Reverb did indeed have the second set of pickups in the case with the guitar.

+1 on Markie's comments. I have one and it definitely has its own thing going on. DO IT...

All things considered, if you could only get a new condition '12 (in that FABULOUS Eriza Verde) or an emerald green '85 throwback, would you still get the throwback? the '12 is a few hundred cheaper.

There are many factors to consider in that question...the TB seems to have more of the old "Standard" neck carve, which is probably closer to the current pattern regular. Not sure what neck profile the '12 CU24 is, but I personally like a little more beef to the necks as I get older (necks are getting fatter, gain is going down lol). Also not sure what pickups the '12CU24 has - I think 2012 you could get the HFS/VB or 57/08s, but I am probably wrong.

I agree that Eriza Verde can be a spectacular color on the right top. So can emerald - so that's your eye's choice.

Although I love my TB, my favorite CU24 is my '13 with 57/08s and a Pattern Regular neck. Absolutely the best-sounding CU24 I have ever laid hands on.

If you have the chance to play both, I suggest you do...either way the good news is you're going to get one hell of a guitar!

Hey Mark, are these Throwbacks wired in the same way as the original '85-'86's(with that out of phase/cocked wah position)?
If so, is that sound more or less the same with the 59/09 pickups? I have a '86 Custom where I like that position but I am thinking of changing the original T and B pickups to a set of 59/09's.
Or maybe just change the T pickup with a 59/09 Treble because I don't like that position (Treble pickup only) in particular. It's kinda thin sounding to me..

Nice guitar. I really want an emerald flame top Custom 24, any hear would be fine.
