Three way toggle vs. slider

So why the switch to the slider? Is there some cost or time saving measure to the slider? I think the McCarty switching system is one of the easiest and most versatile setups on a PRS. I've since adapted pretty well to the 408 switching with the two mini-toggles - but, my Sig Ltd has the 3-way toggle, not the slider on the later production 408's. I just prefer the look and feel of the toggle... Anyone else?

I voted toggle because I prefer the look, but a quality blade switch is a cheaper part and could be more reliable and easier to replace/mod for different options. I would think it is more complex to machine the slot and screw holes for the blade switch so it might not entirely be for economical reasons. Easier for us old Fender guys to get to grips with though!

I prefer a toggle switch to a three/five-way style switch. Just a personal preference because I like the look, the feel, and the way they function. Blade switches have always looked a little odd to me for some reason. Plus, they always felt a little less sturdy to me, although Jimi, Stevie, etc., etc., etc. never seemed to have much trouble with them in that department.

Overall, I guess it depends on the playing situation. Live, I prefer the 3-way toggle for ease of use. It's out of the way of my trem-arm, which is the biggest problem I have with the blade switch, and switching with three modes rather than five is just easier for me. However, I really like the way the pick-ups are wired for the blade switch and when I am casually picking around or messing with effects, I like the blade switch. Visually, I like them both. I like having multiple guitars with different switching set-ups just because it diversifies the appearance of my (small) collection.

Looks like I am the lone slider voter.
Ever since I got my 408, I really like the slider on it over a toggle.

I voted toggle. I prefer the rotary, but between blade and toggle, the toggle just seems more correct on a PRS.

I voted slider because since I got my P24 I have grown to like it. No Push/Pull Pots, everything on one switch for pickup selection. Toggle is great also, I have nothing against it other than I hate push/pull pots for splitting coils.

I know am in the minority but either one works for me. the aesthetics of the three way toggle is more of a classic look but I like the 5 pickup selection choices of the blade without having to have a rotary knob.

Either works for me, too.

The slider is closer to the picking hand, and ergonomically superior to anything else (for me). But I like the toggle on some guitars.

What I don't really like (for ergonomic reasons) is a pull-up or push-pull knob. The pull-ups are sometimes difficult to grasp, and with the push-pull it can be a little hard to remember where you were when you last put the guitar away, etc.

But for me this kind of stuff is secondary to the other features of the guitar.

My concern is that I will slam the slider into the wood. I'm NOT gentle with these things...not on purpose. I've broken four toggles, I'd hate to see what I'd do to the sliders....mmm, sliders.

I prefer the feel of a toggle - but have had toggles on other brand guitars (and some of my former SEs) get static-y / cut out rather early in their age.

The blade seems more precise though. This is all based upon 3-ways (Siggy toggle vs 408 blade).
