Thoughts on a Stripped 58?

I guess I dont see what the 58 would give me that my PS Singlecut does not as specs sound very similar, apart from its cheaper and im probably not going to be skeered to death of putting a mark or two on it!

That's gorgeous!

I doubt the Stripped 58 would be worth investing in if you have that one. The same thing happened with my '14 McCarty Singlecut PS; it obviated the need for any other Singlecut model, 594 included.

Seems the main difference would be the fretboard.

[edit] Looks like you pulled the trigger! So it'll be interesting to get your take on it.

Well I pulled the trigger on.. something...lol.

It appears this one has had its 57/08 pups replaced with Lollar Imperial.
Believe it or not that's my old Stripped 58. I know because mine was gold and I put imperials w/ 50's wiring in it. Should have finish missing on the neck too...

I regret selling it because it was a road warrior and had the best pseudo Dickey Betts tones I've ever replicated.

In other words. BUY IT!

So NOW you tell me...lol
Unfortunately, a little bit late.

Don't worry you did good and made a better choice. I woulda passed too without the 5708 unless smokin steal of a criminal deal. Good pups that replaced, but a big draw of the SC58 is 5708 of that era. Pretty special to this 5708 junkies ears. Neck pickup is one of the best and the bridge nails it raised with more height than I usually run.

And now I'm really itching to hammer on it but.... tomorrow morning after two cups of coffee I will have at it.

My only complaint on my Stripped 58, are the aged pickups. They take away from the beauty of the guitar.
I installed a Wolfetone Fenris with a raw cover and I'm wishing I had gotten polished. That way, I'd only have to replace the neck Pickup with a polished cover. I may remove both pickups and install polished covers. The guitar would look much better with polished covers. People ask me, why my pickups look so dirty or grimy. I'm like, because they are supposed to looked aged, but on a shiny new looking guitar. Makes no sense. Aged pickups on a new guitar do not look good.

Problem solved.. there hasn't been a new SC58 in over 10 years. They weren't aged when new, more like a brushed that does well with the stripped down look.

Agreed. Love the brushed look:

What do you mean problem solved?
I just find mine don't look right. Neck Pickup is stock PRS and bridge pickup is a raw nickel Fenris.
They look dirty and old compared to thr guitar which looks new. Just looks weird to me. Every is different. They do not look brushed. Those brushed look good, but mine do not appear brushed at all.

Grab some metal cleaner and polish them up - won't look brand new, but can certainly be cleaned up, I'm sure

Thanks man.
A lot of guys use steel wool and scotch Brite pads. I'll try a few things. I mean essentially polished nickel is just raw nickel in a polished state? Not sure, but taking a guess.

I miss my Stripped 58. I sold it before the lockdown/jackup. Saw it on Reverb recently. Inflated price, so I didn’t buy it back. But I wanted to..
