Thoughts on a Stripped 58?

I have had a particular stripped 58 in my sights for a while, just received a discounted offer for it.
However what really sets these apart, if anything?
This one is a little different as it's a Gold Top.

The Stripped 58 I had was the only Singlecut I owned out of a half dozen that could've hung with my PS McCarty Singlecut without excuses, and that's a high compliment, because the McSC is a fabulous guitar. The Stripper had a gorgeous, powerful tone with a searing attack and tremendous sustain.

However, the model was simply an SC58 with less fancy trimmings, so it has all the goodness of that model in a more utilitarian package (I had both, but the real gem was the Stripper).

The caveat is that every guitar is different, and it's likely I had a lucky strike. My suggestion would be to play it if you already haven't, and see whether or not it's "the one." The idea that all PRS' are uniform in tone is a kinda-sorta-maybe thing. I find each one sounds different from the others of the same model.

I also think that's a good thing!

Thanks for your thoughts here, that was one mighty fine axe you were lucky enough to own from the sounds of it.
Unfortunately this is an internet sale as it's the other side of the USA so no chance to play it before making my best hopefully semi educated decision as to buy it or not.

Perhaps the seller could do a quickie phone video to give you an idea as to how it sounds?

Don't think, buy! My Stripper 58 is easily my favorite singlecut I've ever played. 5708, P3 tuners, Pattern profile, and the knobs in the correct PRS placement. Do it!

Why are we still talking when you should be buying! I saw that ad, or one just like mine, and honestly did think maybe I need a twin? It's that good! Maybe I do need a twin after all? click clock.. better hurry up!

Seriously, man, I can't recommend it enough if you're in the market. I really dig the gold top and natural back. The only mods I've done is bone tuner buttons and truss rod cover. Which is saying a lot. I tweak out on damn near every guitar. I thought about swapping out the 5708 bridge to a 5909 at one point. Then I found the sweet spot and it's never going anywhere. The 5708 pickups are perfection.

I guess I dont see what the 58 would give me that my PS Singlecut does not as specs sound very similar, apart from its cheaper and im probably not going to be skeered to death of putting a mark or two on it!

The Stripped Guitars Are Great, Steak And Potatoes Guitars. They Deliver And Are A Great Value Compared To Some Of Their Competition Or Counterparts.

Regarding The Lollar Imperials...I Have Had Great Results With Them In Some Guitars I Have Put Them In. What I Am About To Say Will Be Blasphemy To Most Here But The 57/08's To Me Do Everything Good But Nothing That I Do Great. Could Be A Style Thing But I Can't Imagine You Not Liking The Lollars If You Go Through And Purchase.

Those specs are really close. The question is if the remaining differences are worth having another guitar. And they may not be trivial.

In my case the main differences between my two Core 24.5" maple/mahogany singlecuts, the Stripped 58 and P245 are the P245 stoptail piezo bridge and the 57/08's on the '58 and 58/15's on the P245. The sound on the '58 is richer acoustically and the neck pup is the best I have. The P245 has the advantages of the piezo and I like the bridge 58/15 better. But pretty close overall.

For me it's worth it for those small differences. And the '58s seem to be a good value; mine was $2k a year ago:
