Splawn Competition 50w (second hand too)

Not sure why but it might be that I saw Joe Bonamassa's massive setup and had some amp-envy.

Anyway, what amps you folk using? Anybody tried the Vintage Modern?

I really like the sound of Orange Amps. Picked up a Orange Crush CR60C (60 Watts 1x12 Combo) a few month ago.....my neighbors seem like aliens now.

This is my main squeeze, a Twintone II, 50W of EL34 goodness and very loud. Currently having a custom tweed cab with 2x10" Jensens made for my Pro Junior, going to look and sound sweet.
 
Bad Cat hot cat 30 and 50R heads, Bogner uber 4x12 cabs. I'm getting a little bored with this sound, maybe just because I've been using it forever. I still love it but feel like I need a change. GASing bad for a Friedman head. I played a BE-100 the other day that was great, but I really feel like the Naked head would suit me best. I'm also interested in this rumored PRS metal amp. Sometimes I feel like I should just do a full blown custom amp with Doug/PRS???

I have to many , I was inflicted with a bad case of GAS several times.
My first amp from May of 2012 after getting back into this after a 30 year break was the Carvin V3M and 2x12, then I upgraded to a 4x12 cabinet.
Both are way overkill for me as you can gig an outdoor venue with this amp with it being 50 watts of tube power.

Then I got a small Fender Mustang 1, but recently sold it to a guy at work.
Then I got a small (in size only, this thing is frickin' loud) Orange Micro amp and paired it with the 2x12 Carvin cabinet.

Then I got a Boss/Roland Jam Station 10 which is a very little loud unit that has built in jam tracks minus the lead guitar, and you can hook an iPod to it also.

Bought a Pignose since they were popular in the 70s when I was a kid and playing guitar, got that earlier in the year, or late last year.
Not really happy with it, it is to clean unless you crank it, and cranked it will drive the neighbors to throw stuff at me.

The Carvin is very nice with its multiple channels with one clean and two dirty, and you can play with it sounding heavy metal with the main volume down.
But I am actually digging the 5 watt Blackstar HT5R-H paired with an Orange cabinet with a 1x12 Celestion Vintage 30 more.
The Blackstar does not have a master volume, bit it was designed to sound very metal with it turned down low, and it also has a clean channel too.
If I played more with the Carvin I could get the same tones, but the Blackstar is an easier amp to work with since it has fewer knobs :D
When I move eventually to a bigger and more private place, I plan on letting the Carvin breathe some on the 50 watt setting and cranked.

And last but not least, I just got the Yamaha THR 10X a few days ago, and I am really having a blast with it.
It can be loud too, loud enough to run me out of my living room if I crank it.
And I like it since it can be operated on 8 AAs.
Perfect for taking it and a guitar out to the porch, and we have had nice weather for it this holiday weekend.
I do not have a picture of it yet...

Been rocking the Vox Night Train 50 (with the matching 2x12 cab) since last year. I'm really happy with it. Plenty of that "patented" Vox clean warmth, and able to add enough crunchy bite if I need it. Definitely a Mesa Boogie and a Bogner in my future, but for now I'm much more focused on expanding my collection of guitars!
 
That V3M is a great amp for the price. I love mine, but wish the 2nd channel was closer to the clean channel than the dirty channel. It's a super versatile amp, and works well with my blues/classic rock band.

My main amp is my THD Bivalve, with 6v6s. It's still too loud for rehearsals, but damn! That thing sounds fantastic. I run it through a few different 1x12s, depending on my mood--a Mesa C-90 Black Shadow, a Mesa Thiele with a Vin 30, or my homemade Mahogany cab with a WGS Reaper HP. The Mira sounds like angels in motorcycle boots with this amp.

I haven't used my Mesa Lonestar in a few months, but it's due. I've also got a Fender Excelcior, which is a very groovy little 12 watt amp. It's loud enough to keep up with all but the loudest drummers, and it rips when hit hard with a booster.

A Sweet 16+ is on the list next...

The Yamaha THR10X is my all time favorite headphone/low volume practice amp. I live on the 2 Brown/Marshall style amp models. It's supposed to be for metal but those 2 models are awesome hot rodded Marshall tone. I just wish it was louder or had some way to power a bigger cab. I also have the Marshall SL-5 Combo which gets a similar tone but a little bit more volume for jamming with others. I just wish it was a little more portable but I guess that big cab makes it sound so good. I use these 2 the most for low volume, late night practice situations.

My bigger amps are a Bogner Uberschall Twin Jet with 6550s and the HX/DA (currently getting some mods at the factory). Love the Uber TJ, especially with the 6550s. It's got a great hot rodded Marshall tone on the rhythm channel and doom and destruction on the lead channel. If Bogner would somehow get a usable clean into this amp as a 3rd channel it would smoke the XTC or any other 3 or 4 channel amp out there.

Been using Roland JC 55 for years...great clean tones, really hear the clarity of the guitars...use effects to add color...Keeley, Xotic, TC Electronics etc...when needed. Most likely adding something by Orange soon...have some used heads, cabs at my job...was impressed with power from the micro mini and sounded great from a single 12 cabinet
 
I don't EVER change amps I have only had Mesa MK2s ( 2 of them ) since 1981 but I just got this little rocker

1) Egnater Tweaker 15 ( using EL34s ) Celstion 25 watt greenback in the cab
2) My Mesa :)
3) Mesa with my first PRS :)






 
I wish it had a a speaker cab out too.
But with its headphone out jack, could you run that to a clean channel on a bigger amp and use the THR as a pre-amp like a pedal, and get the same sound out of a bigger amp?

Well now, Blackstar just came out with a new line of metal amps.
I think my HT5R-H is overdriven enough, but some must have said they want even more gain.


I like mine though, so I am not going to rush out and get this one just yet.

Part of the magic of this little box is the speaker/cab emulation and that's why it sounds good through headphones. Unless you're just running it out to a clean FRFR monitor or PA, it doesn't quite sound the same.
