This is the THIRD time now, first two times was cosmetic issues (cracking binding and then a quarter sized chip on the bottom next to the bottom strap button) and now electrical issues! My neck and bridge pups stopped working, little to no output what so ever. Hopefully PTC will get it sorted out!

It's gotta be frustrating for you to enjoy your prized PRS only to have so many troubles occur with it. My hope is that you have not been tinkering with the guitar with the mindset of learning what magic Paul puts into his guitars, but instead, accepting that what you have is a nice entry level guitar.

The reason for my saying this is that sometimes we all get that urge to change small details about our instruments, thinking they'll become better devices for our amusement. TBH, I learned early on that a nice instrument is like a girlfriend. She may resist your trying to change her to suit your needs. Same goes the other way. You may not like it if she tried to change you. While instruments are not people, I learned that if it ain't broke to begin with, don't try to fix it.

However, if the car makes a funny noise, don't turn up the car radio so as to drown out the noise. Fix the car.

The kid is concerned about his guitar.
That’s it.

I learned guitar fixin from guitar breakin. With electronics it can always be fixed.

Hope the SE works out, next time don't be afraid to check it out yourself, you will learn more. A wood chopstick poking around in there could very well have fixed the issue depending on what was wrong. Good luck as always.

Third time's a charm! I'm sure they'll sort it out for you.

Sounds like a bad haircut waiting to happen...;)

It might help if you stick with reality instead of science fiction.

And no, am not stifling the boy's creativity. Nor am I testing it.

A certain posters threads always seem to be a bit of fiction...

Oh I will never mod my SE because I don't know what to do with it and it's way too much to screw up. I am however refinishing my squire strat though.

Yea PTC has done an amazing job. It looks like there was no repair at all!

Congratulations. Hope this solved your problem.

Were you able to find out what was causing the pickups' cutting out? Did PTC elaborate what the problem was?

(If it was not the guitar components, did you try swapping to a better quality instrument cable?)

If PTC solved the issue, please describe the work they did so we'll be better equipped to know how to answer similar problems should they occur in the future. Thanks in advance. :)

I already have a very nice new ernie cable (coiled) and I think the shop did it themselves, but they're an authorized dealer. But I think they sent it to PTC.
