Thick mahogany

This Sc245 has thick mahogany and seems to weigh a lot more than the average Sc245.

Does thick mahogany mean it is thicker than the normal mahogany used for a Sc245?

Ps: this top would easily make private stock nowadays.

Don't think it's any thicker than normal. But different slabs of mahogany can vary widely in weight...

They put some nice tops on those.



These had McCarty body thickness (slightly thicker). But I agree with Jamie; the overall weight of the guitar is determined in part by the weight of the mahogany they chose.

It's a very subjective thing in any case. Most are obviously better, as you agree.
