These Go To Eleven.

I can tell you from experience with 4 Piezo equipped PRS guitars, they work just fine with D'Addario 10's on them. I have been running all of mine that way since the original set of strings were ready to be changed.
I agree. I have 10s on two of them. I just keep 11s on the one that shipped with them.

David Grissom talks about how some guitars work better with 11's and some with lighter gauges. I use 11s for all my gig guitars as we tune a half-step but my home guitars are all 10s. Ultimately, doesn't matter if they feel and sound good!

Enquiring minds want to know if the SE DGT is shipped with 11’s?

General wisdom is that big frets and low action make for a very playable guitar, so it makes sense that the DGT plays so well stock.

Way back when I played a lot, I went from 10's to 11's. The main thing I noticed was that it didn't feel hugely different, but my left hand would get more tired over a long session vs. 10's.

Hmmm...I hope I don't experience the left hand tiredness. I'll keep an eye out for it.

As an experiment, I put 11s on my modded S2 Standard (Ole Black Betty) Actually there was no setup change between the 10s I had on previously. I liked the tone soo much, I actually re-adjusted the pickup heights and 11s will stay. BALLSY, meaty, the entire rig just is the shiznet!
I really am a fan of all-hog guitars, and S2s… Even my Cores give them respect ;)

What a great looking guitar, and the amp room looks like it isn't too shabby either! I'm a sucker for that black with the subtle red thing happening in the pick guard and Persian rugs. ;)

No question about the .011s making things ballsier, completely agree with you. The difference is obvious as you go a little cleaner. The amount of gain was my criticism of Rick Beato's video on the topic, since higher distortion creates more of a square wave and boosts bass and low mids.

I'm not saying that one or the other gauge is somehow 'better'; that's not the operative question for me, and it's a matter of taste anyway. 'Different' is a perfectly good reason to do things a certain way.

I like both .010s and .011s now. I can have guitars set up with different gauges for different kinds of sounds. It doesn't have to be all one way or the other.

I wanted to concentrate on the DGT for a few weeks, so since getting the DGT I haven't played my other guitars. Today I decided to play the McCarty Singlecut.

Man oh man, the .010s felt like rubber bands!

Good rubber bands, of course, so I'm not putting .011s on the guitar, but I can see I'm pretty used to the .011s on the DGT.

If I put “Betty” away and play a short scale with 9s…….. Takes a minute!
