The Rectangular Pickups

So, how long has this been a thing? I'm talking about the uncovered pickups where the plastic is enlarged covering the entire pickup cavity. It looks amazing and ever since I got my CU24 Semi Hollow with the 59/09s, every other uncovered humbucker I've seen looks downright ugly in comparison, with the exposed edges of the cavity.

I guess the downside is you can't put covers on them, right?

I think maybe squabbins started 2011 or possibly 2012. They have longer mounting legs and don't always fit properly in non squabbin guitars.

i agree cshore, aesthetically the squabbins are much better looking to my eye.

Has anybody stuck them in the s2 series and did they fit? I really fancy a set of the 59/09s but am worried they will sit too high in my s2 cu24.

Yup, they sure look great. Another cool PRS detail that raises the aesthetic bar.
