The PRS DG Custom 30 and 50

As the owner of a DG30, I think the way it sounds in that video (too bad we heard so little!) is spot on to the way it sounds at my studio.

I really want a DGT and a Custom 30 someday. I love David's tone and our tastes in gear are kinda similar yet different.

I really think you'd dig both, based on what I've read in your posts.

His tones are very organic, and I think that's what the DG30 brings to the table, at least for me.

Yeah that's what I like. Years past I'd aim for a high gain rig either through an dirty amp or really hard hitting distortion boxes. Nowadays I'm going for the low-med gain + louder rather than dirtier + quieter. I do keep a Wampler Pinnacle or sometimes alternatively a Mojo Hand Socrates on the board for those 80s covers I do that call for that modded Marshall high gain territory but really most of what I like nowadays is more an AC/DC school of thought to start with (cleaner louder) with the amp by itself, and then adding in lower gain drives to augment that for my own taste. I totally agree with David on the multichannel amp thing. To me between a dynamic guitar (and attack), a single channel vintagey warm tube amp, and some foot pedals you can really have a lot of options and IMO sound more organic that way.

I really dig his latest CD. I have it in my stereo all the time and in iTunes. I'm going to order his Truefire lesson on DVD too. We are similar yet different in playing style but I admire his approach to playing and tone/gear.
