The "Official Silver Sky" Thread

Hmmm, Interesting...didn't know that? Thanks for the heads up.
The nebula is a nitro finish, and that was basically PRS announcing they were switching the SS over to nitro. I have to say though, that may Dodgem blue (not to the level of the nebula), gets a little color change action going also.

2020 models have nitro bodies I believe

Yup...it's been confirmed all the US made PRSi now have nitro finishes. I missed it somehow. I dig the dodgem blue. However, the wife hates blue guitars almost as much as @sergiodeblanc so I've narrowed it down to the frost, tungsten or the polar blue...she's not the boss of me.:D I just told her it was bluish "silver". Just in case I go that route. ;) had the tungsten with the rosewood last time, the frost looks a bit "washed out" but I think a different color pickguard would break it up nicely. So the jury is still out at the moment...I've gotta couple of months to decide.

I bought the 2020 dodgem blue, maple neck from sweet water. It definitely has a different finish feel on the neck then my 2018 tungsten. The body doesn’t feel like nitro, it feels like my tungsten body, like a poly. Basically I don’t know if they switched to nitro on the body yet for the silver sky. I think only on the nebula from what I’ve heard.

Yeah, it's been confirmed...all the 2020 US made guitars are nitro. Not the run of the mill nitro but nitro none the less. I didn't get along with the nitro gloss YRMV but I'm excited to get my hands on a maple necked one in the next few months!

I ordered mine back in early February and was expecting a wait time of 6-8 months. Then with the factory being shut down for a month, it brings it to about October/November?

Is everyone else’s wait time about the same?

I ordered a maple FB SS the day they were announced. It shipped to me in early July.

I have no idea how much backlog was generated between my order and yours. Probably more than a couple of months worth. So since you ordered a month later, I would expect yours to be made in October-ish, as you suggest. But there seem to be plenty out there at retailers, so maybe sooner?

I originally ordered the maple midnight rose on day 1.
I got sick of waiting and bought and sold a bunch of other guitars...then I found a midnight rose in rosewood...and I bought it.

Gorgeous! Would you say it's more pink, rose gold, or copper in person? All the photos I see vary, like the other SS models. This is my favorite!

Very Nice. I'm debating getting a SS. I already have a Fender Texas special Strat that is perfectly good. I need convinced!
PS I bought a 594 SC this spring.. Love it. Plus I have a 1998 McCarty.
