No PRSi in sight, but LaMP is touring and they sound great. There are some good SBDs on Archive from more recent shows, but this video is worth a check. Seeing the final night of the tour in early December, looking forward to it. I happen to be friends with the drummer.

Just to clarify before I put my foot in my mouth...

Is a jam band a band that plays a catchy little riff or melody
and then they all play solos over the chord changes and then
go back to the original riff or melody once in a while?

I’ll try my best to not **** on the OP because my favorite band probably started the genre without knowing it and that’s the ABB. Sure the GD gets credit for it but the ABB were doing it before it was “cool.”
IMO jam bands are for the guys in the band.
You can cover just about any song and nobody complains, especially the audience. More often than not jam band audiences are rolling and could care less about the song that’s being played, how loud it is, or how long it lasts. And that’s where I get off. Who wants to play the same three chords for 15 minutes at a time while everybody does three solos?

To each their own and fair enough, but I disagree with you're last couple points. Sure, its definitely a big party and theres plenty of people who are there just for that aspect, but despite that I find people in the jam scene to be much more into the music, and also open minded and receptive to different sounds than most other genres/scenes. And I can't really say that I can think of very many jam bands that are simply trading solos over the same progression for extended periods of time either ;)

Strong first post.:p:D
Honestly, I can’t disagree with you.
HOWEVER, everyone likes what they like. We don’t $h!t on other peoples tastes in music and everything else that comes up.
Try to keep that in mind. You want to do that, head over to TGP.:)

Not on YouTube unfortunately, but if you have Spotify this is killer. An all improv hour long continuous studio album

A lot more than guys trading solos over a three chord progression for 15 minutes ;)

Spafford in general are one of my favorites for killer live improv
