The "I Just Played a ..." thread

Played a Silver Sky this weekend. It played well and sounded great, but somehow I was not impressed with the cheap feeling plastic parts, especially the tuners. The 7 1/4 radius was imperceptible to me and the neck was nice. Tones were really good in all 5 positions. So I'm on the fence on the overall experience. I mean for this guitar are the tuners the best PRS can do.
I'll probably play it some more, but do I really need one, not yet

Just had a short play with a few PRSi at one of the larger stores here in Perth, Aus.

In order of how much I liked them, from least to most.

The SS. Not that there was anything wrong with it, but it just didn't quite feel right in my hands. Plenty of nice sounds out of it, but just wasn't there for me.

McCarty 594 double cut. Beautiful guitar and a massive step up from my Cu24 SE obviously. Would love to have one of these. Pity there was no single cut to try as that would be my preference. Not that I would ever be able to afford either one.

Hollowbody II Piezo. Probably the nicest guitar I've ever seen, let alone been able to touch. Simply incredible. The pattern neck was perfect in my hands, and the sound out of it was sublime, even from my skill-free fingers. I didn't blend in the piezo, but the 58/15LTs (also on the McCarty so I guess I have an ear for them) were amazing.

Not sure what the finish is, as the colour doesn't look close to anything on the PRS site.
See if you can figure it out: https://www.conceptmusic.com.au/paul-reed-smith-hb2-hollowbody-with-piezo?search=PRS

I really went in to try some more traditional semi-hollows, but nothing really blew my mind. The best sounding and feeling one (aside from the HBII) was an Epiphone Casino. Sounded way better than the 335s for a third or quarter of the price.

That Hollowbody looks like a Blood Orange finish.

Warmoth Explorer, DC 594, 2012 Studio, '01 Singlecut and Experience 2012 Custom 24 in that order.

All through a BC Audio #8 amp running both THD and Rivera 4x12s. Veeeerry nice. I made up my mind that the #7s are coming out of the Singlecut and a pair of 53/10s are going in.

I was in SF yesterday for a Rhiannon Giddens concert had time to kill so stopped in GC
They had a Vela (I'd never even seen one in person before), brand new for 899$

The sound was great - as I expected BUT
This was the most comfortable guitar I've ever played (subjective, of course).
Very light weight The neck felt fantastic to me ( it seemed like there was no way it was a 25)
and the balance was perfect. I usually don't like playing for any length of time without a strap but I
that Vela for about 45 minutes and it was effortless.

It didn't make me want to give up on my McCarty but I was stunned - next step is find a Vela Semi-Hollow
