Can we do something like a giveaway or a meet up to liven it up? We need a revival (No, this isn't a joke).

Seriously,
How do we grow the forum and attract new members? How to encourage readers to become new members? And more other anything, how do we keep new members active beyond a week or two?

This forum has far less activity than it did when I joined near the end of last year. While I'm only on smaller guitar/music related forums that are growing at a rapid rate. I'm wondering what the issue is here and how we can all work together to fix it.

Meet ups already happen. The big one is Experience.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. The only thing I see driving the forum down lately is posts that push promotion instead of attraction. Otherwise great forum for years and years with many happy helpful and peaceful members here for many more to come.

There's plenty of other forums out there for the circus.

I've made it to the 21 electric guitars mark, I can't afford to buy any more guitars since you know who destroyed the economy and so I don't really have anything exciting to talk about.
Very good point about the economy. I know my guitar spree has come to a hault.. its not worth the dough when I have all my bases covered. Anything added these days is well beyond a want. As it is I have to be mindful to play everything I have on the regular. I've even thought about downsizing. Did I just type that out loud?!?! Get a rope!

This wasn't created to spark negative response by members though I can certainly see how members here would view it as such. I guess a little negative response is better than no activity at all?

"The real question is why would people get mad at such a small simple fact"
Exactly. Couldn't agree more lol

As far as giveaways and meetups not helping activity and boost for new member activity, that's not true. Forums/groups are known to grow by such things.

It's just common sense. But it is hard to revive a (nearly) dead or dying forum. Especially if people cannot accept the fact or if members are comfortable with just the few being here.

This seems like a small community and like it.
Don't you think that this place deserves to be bigger though?

I mean, granted I have never been on tdpri or TGP due to alot that goes on there because they're so massive but I feel like here the lights are being kept on for a place that is not fruitful.

I know there is an argument that as long as the same handful of people show up that it will be worth it.

Maybe @DreamTheaterRules would agree with you

Oh and BTW, not claiming the forum is dead or dyinf because the responses to me are low, I'm going by actual activity/creativity (for clarification). The general activity on the forum imhas never been so low, and even though I've only been a member since November last year, I've been follwing the forum for some time. You seem to forget I joined because of Lew 😆

:D You calling me out here? Smooth. Wasn't I the guy trying to save you here, a couple weeks ago? No good deed goes unpunished with you, I see. ;)

No, truth is, I'd be much more happy of a few of the "longer time members than I am" would just be more active again. Some of them were fairly active the first few years I was here, and I sometimes worry that my joking around all the time may be a reason some of them rarely come around. I'd rather leave than be bad for the forum.

And, this is starting to get to be the time of year where I'm not around as much as as I'm pretty active outside once the weather is better. Often working or playing til well after dark, camping for a week, etc.

I'm all for new members coming in if they want to be a positive member of the community. Most newbies sign up just to complain about a problem, then disappear. I'd be much more happy with a few older guys getting more active. And, with everyone getting along like a group of friends.

I like this tight knit community. Sure, we could (and deserve to) be a bigger group, that would be great. AFAIC, we're doing pretty good. There's barely any drama and most everybody is supportive of one another. Sure there are some fanboys, like any other brand centric forum, but aside from those few, I think this place is the bee's knees, aside from the bull**** third party picture posting crap.

For every forum, there is a critical mass of users where the number of a$$holes becomes too large to make it worth sticking around. We've managed to avoid that number.

We should keep it that way.
That's why I've never been on TGP or TDPRI. However, this place deserves to at least expand a bit.
