I have a pinched nerve in one of my cervical vertebrae that happens to be the one that operates fingers on my right hand. Anyway, my back went into spasm, and I can't even hang onto a pick, let alone manipulate it. I'm supposed to lay down parts for an ad project today.

Frustrating. As Mick once sang, "What a drag it is getting old!"

Wish you the best.
I've had hand surgeries give me issues, but I would have starved well before that if my livelyhood depended on my playing.

My sympathies. I hope you feel better soon. I feel for you since it affects your earning a living. That's rough.

I have some problems with my back (among other things). I was supposed to go for some injections Tuesday but the blizzard hit here and the office was closed until today. Maybe next week.

Thanks, guys. I'm still fine on keys, so I worked on a keyboard part instead. It's the ability to hold something between thumb and forefinger that seems to be the problem, the up and down movement is still there. Weird!

Maybe tomorrow for the guitar...

Get better man! I have an irrational fear of screwing up my left hand fingers, making years of practice go down the drain. Though, Django did just fine with just two!

Hope this heals quickly. I guess it would be a good time to work on some fingerstyle playing and keep that hand active and not get numb. But, I feel the pain...

Sorry to hear that. I hope you get better soon. I know that these things can take some time to heal, but better that than the alternative!

This probably won't make you feel any better, but that's my fear, too. After a life time of near-misses with my hands it would completely destroy my world if I lost 'em (I'm in the IT field and my hobbies are guitars and cars ). Get it taken care of and I wish you nothing but a speedy and complete recovery, bro.

Hope you feel better soon brother... I would offer my playing services if I were closer...

Well, I got lucky; my doc prescribed an anti-inflammatory to reduce the pressure on the nerve, and a med for the nerve that seems to help, and I can feel a little improvement this morning.

The weird thing is that even though the nerve is being pinched in the spine, the hand feels stiff! But at least I have better sensation in my fingertips this AM.

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone - what a great group of friends!

And Matt, thanks so much for the thought of the offer!

Hey Les - is the problem squeezing w/the thumb or the finger? Because I thought if it was the finger, maybe you could get a thumbpick and go Jack Blades on us.

Glad to hear it's coming around!
