Well, I finally sold my McCarty 58 after thinking about it for five years. It is an beautiful and light example of that model, but I just cound not bound with it, so it sat in its case for most of the nine years I owned it. I am not a collector. I play the guitars I own or they get moved on. The only reason I kept it that long is because I knew that I could not easily replace it. It is that exceptionally beautiful and light. The Pattern neck is just weird to my hands and I have big hands.

I have seven other guitars, two of which are PRS guitars. I am also adding an Eastman SB55DC/v to my collection, that is, if they ever get off of back order. I need to scratch my DC Les Paul Junior itch.

for that I suggest getting a Mira X ;) :D

Bowtie that Mira X is incredible I need to have one someday! I have an S2 and SE Mira but that X with the shorter scale length looks awesome.....

I already own a core Mira Korina. A Mira is not a replacement for Les Paul Junior DC. Much of the magic in the Junior comes from the single dog ear P-90.

Here’s my Mira Korina. I have owned the guitar for almost 12 years.

You’re right it’s more like a Special than the single P90 Jr. I had a Korina Mira as well, incredible guitar! The X definitely is different from the regular one.

The 25th Anniversary Mira 245 Soapbar is about as close to a Les Paul Special as PRS has ever gotten since the Virginia Ave production facility opened. I do not know if you have ever seen any of the early West Street guitars, but most of them look like Paul's take on the DC Junior/Special. One of the owners of the now defunct Master Musicians, Roe, had a couple of really early West Street guitars. I do not know if it is in the archive or not, but one of those guitars had wood covered P-90s.

I’ve seen quite a few of those. There’s a guy overseas with a triple p90 version. It’s pretty sweet.

I am thinning the herd. I put another one of my guitars up for sale. It is not a PRS guitar, so stop thinking what you are thinking. :)

The problem with acquiring guitars is that one eventually has to sell. I am shedding guitars that I do not play. If a guitar has not been taken out the case and played in the last year, it is going. Paul is right. Guitars are meant to be played.

I have only seen one in the flesh and that was at Experience. The reality is that the Mira did not sell well enough as a core or S2 model. However, the S2 like the SE model suffers from butt-ugliness due to the drop-in pickguard assembly. I have owned five Maryland-made PRS guitars over a period of 26 years (I do not churn guitars). My 2009 Mira Korina is the best PRS I have ever played, hands down. I was not always that way. I received a PTC coupon with the guitar that granted me a free PTC-level setup and a free set of pickups, so I chose 57/08s. The Mira pickups were too bright in a korina guitar. A PTC-level setup and 57/08s resulted in the guitar playing like someone had sprinkled fairy dust on the guitar.

I did the same thing with my Korina Mira as well as this Mira X. Early unetched 57/08’s in both of them.
