I can already see how my family is eating differently due to this pandemic. We have done our best to stock-up on staple foods and use our limited freezer space for frozen vegetables and proteins. But addition of more than a few boxes of pasta, bags of rice, cans of steel-cut oats, and cookies have fundamentally changed the way we eat. Pairing that with decreased motion, the risk of gaining weight is notable.

After reading 11top's gleeful anticipation of eating down all the food he's stockpiled, it occurred to me that I am not alone. Chances are good that you, too, are facing the very real risk of gaining... [cue dramatic music]

...the COVID-20! (That's the COVID-9.07185 for those of you counting in kilos.)

So what's yoru plan to stay fit? Eat less? Eat more frequently but in smaller portions? Home gym?

What we need is a virtual Yoga Studio. If Shawn were to set-up a subscription service (he has his own yoga studio), I'd be willing to bet we could Pay Pal some cash-heesh and attend some virtual classes. Hell, if nothing else, it would be fun to interact with a bunch of you with alternate media (like a group FaceTime or Skype).

Solitary life in the basement. Pounding away on the keyboard, just like every day. I've been on portion control for quite a while, trying to live a little healthier. Walking the pooch every day. That routine hasn't changed, and gets me a couple of miles a day. The Mrs had 3 recent procedures, and is considered immuno compromised for a couple of months. She's been staying home for the last couple of weeks. She broke out the old stationary bike, and is doing a couple of 30 minute sessions every day. I'm just trying to avoid the "bored eating" that I fear will come along at some point.

I'm staring down the barrel of six weeks of working at home. I can do that pretty easily, but with the gyms closed and my normal routine blown to smithereens, yeah I'm looking at COVID 20 if not 30! I'm lazy as hell about getting moving, although once I am moving I push pretty hard. I think I need to get bikes fixed up, or start hiking the very big hill that's basically in my back yard.

Instead of being lazy and driving a car everywhere I put it in neutral and pull it behind me everywhere I go. Hills are a *****, I’m either grunting or running my ass off depending on direction. Meals are a grain of fresh steamed rice and two drops of water. While doing all of it I dream of death by Irish coffee and donuts :)

, if you guys want to start a "Dudes Do Yoga" series, I'm game.
I would be interested but the problem is I won't be able to get admitted to the hospital with Yoga injuries when they're only taking virus patients

Now, if you start out with stretches for those who have the flexibility of a mahogany neck I could be persuaded.

I tried your car idea. I live at the top of a hill. It was much easier to pull the car than you described, for about 25-30 feet. At that point, the car and I switched roles.

I like the yoga idea, if we can find an acceptable time of day for everyone. I'm trying to be more diligent about my stationary bike routine, but my food consumption isn't changing drastically because I'm diabetic - I can't go wild. One side benefit may be that I won't be able to go out for lunch or dinner as much because the restaurants are on lockdown. We drove by Chick-Fil-A yesterday (we had to get supplies), and their drive-thru line was as bad as always. Other places we passed looked dead.

Coincidentally, my whole family got nutrition wake up calls recently, so we've already changed some habits.

I plan to keep walking regularly and cycling semi-regularly. Luckily I have plenty of good places nearby for that. I find exercising indoors tedious so I never stick with it.

And hey, based on the bread aisle at my local grocer, there's never been a better time to go low-carb and gluten-free!

I was training for an event that will probably just get canceled (dRugged Maniac). And I was all excited too, because last year was a b!tch year for me medically between a broken foot and broken head.

Now all the gyms are closed. I do have a bike and will ride it but with spring in full swing here in PHX, allergies tend to slow me down in that regard. I've ended up with walking pneumonia a couple times from allergies, but not in the last few years because I've been much more proactive about allergy care. So, I don't just want to spend all my time outdoors and end up with a respiratory issue, especially considering the obvious in this pandemic.

Not sure what to do lifting wise as the max weights we have here are 20 lbs.

I always had trouble with it until I stuck the stationary bike in front of the TV. Multi-tasking, and not nearly as boring. We've worn out three stationary bikes already, and this one has had a couple repairs (and needs more).

My daughter’s coach came up with a perverse workout for us during World Juniors.
You had to pedal the whole game. You had to average a certain power level each period to make sure you didn’t slack off (I think my target average was 190-200 watts). During all penalties, you had to pedal extra hard. After each goal, you had to sprint as fast as you could until the puck dropped again. I forget what we had to do in penalty shots. It was a killer workout.
