If you saw part 1 and part 2 of this series, you already know the back-story. Here's #3 of 4.
1988 Signature #217
This is one of the cleanest 80's PRS guitar's I've ever held. Standard neck carve. Birds. Brazilian Rosewood fretboard. Sweet Switch. No mods whatsoever. Original everything. It even still has the license-plate case (which is a first for me). It's doesn't even show signs of fading so I'm guessing it never saw daylight until this morning. It wasn't much sunshine but it was enough to grab these photos.
As you all know, Vintage Yellow is a funny color and it varies quite a bit from guitar to guitar. I find this one to be a slightly darker hue than usual. It's almost Amber or even Santana Yellow. I pulled the bridge pickup to be sure it was VY. I got a nice surprise in the process; this has a 2nd generation stamped T pickup!
I haven't had a chance to plug her in just yet but I did polish the frets and change the strings (nickel wound 10's) last night. I'll give here a test run before work tomorrow morning. I sure hope the neighbors are up by then. If not, you can bet your ass they will be when I'm done.
