OK. I have heard rumors about some Custom models that were hollowbodied with no f-holes. A slightly thicker body an extremely resonant to the point of being legendary.

Can anyone shed more light? What years? Any way to find them out of the scores of used models out there?

Thanks

I've seen one online. Can't remember where. Someone will have more info. I'd like to come upon one too!

I've only read/heard of them as custom orders but they do exist and from what I've read are really nice.

If anyone's interested in one of the Standards, a former Canadian PRS rep has one for sale: https://guitarscanada.com/index.php?threads/1997-prs-22-standard-semi-hollow-rare-price-drop.99905/

I know there was a redwood capped semi hollow custom with a TOM bridge and no f holes. As I recall it was a ltd edition. early 90's

Semi hollow option is not all that rare. Available on Custom 22's, Custom 24's, many Artist models, and even on Dragons. Most I have seen are late eighties through mid nineties

Glad to hear these are considered "legendary"!

I played a Custom 22 Semi-Hollow Trem (with the F-Hole though) in 2010 that blew me away. It was from John Mann's shop, BostonGuitar, Kingsley, John and I all played it through Kingley's vintage Marshall Amp at an epic Tonefest at my place, and we all dug it. Kingsley's brother bought it before I was able to decide to try to buy it. It has haunted me since.

I just got a Private Stock McCarty 594 in, Semi-Hollow with no F-Hole, and I absolutely LOVE it! Based on that I am changing the spec on another DC 594 PS for later this year to Semi-Hollow with no F-Hole with Custom 22 thickness, in honor of that great Custom 22 Semi-Hollow. So sort of like what you are asking about. ;)

Can't wait to get it!
